The Texas Longhorns will be without one of their top offensive players for the remainder of the 2026 season.
On Sunday, ESPN’s Pete Thamel reported that senior left tackle Trevor Goosby will miss the rest of the season after suffering a knee injury in the Longhorns’ win over the Ole Miss Rebels.
Goosby went down in the first quarter on Saturday and was unable to put any pressure on his leg; he was subsequently carted off the field and into the locker room.
The senior was one of the anchors of the Texas offensive line as one of three returning faces on the unit from a season ago. Goosby had started all seven games of the season so far, protecting senior quarterback Arch Manning’s blindside.
The Longhorns lose a veteran offensive lineman who has seen plenty of football in his fourth season on the Forty Acres, with Goosby making 36 career appearances in a burnt orange uniform.
Goosby has seamlessly become the Longhorns’ starting left tackle over the last two seasons, stepping into the role heading into the 2025 season. In his first year as Texas’ starting left tackle, Goosby earned All-Southeastern Conference First-Team honors last season.
Rolling into the 2026 season and his second as the Longhorns’ starting left tackle, Goosby was viewed as one of the best players at his position, earning spots on the Lombardi Award and Outland Trophy preseason watchlists, and earning a preseason All-SEC First Team selection.
The Longhorns turned to senior offensive lineman Andre Cojoe to replace Goosby after he went down early in the game. With Goosby being out for the rest of the season, Cojoe will likely be counted on to step in and start at left tackle the rest of the way.
Cojoe has appeared in seven games so far this season, all at left tackle. Cojoe is also a veteran in the Texas program but has not seen much game time, with just 11 career appearances. The senior was forced to sit out the entire 2025 season after suffering a season-ending injury in fall camp.
