Los Angeles Rams and Edwards Lifesciences Extend Partnership

Posted

The Los Angeles Rams and Edwards Lifesciences announced that they will be continuing their partnership that provides fans with heart valve disease education and offers screening services throughout Los Angeles and Orange County, reaching underserved communities.

Rams legends Eric Dickerson and Torry Holt have become the new faces of the public service announcement that celebrates the renewal of the partnership. They are encouraging fans to get screened and educate themselves on the risk of heart valve failure through the “Off the Sidelines” initiative.

This year’s campaign is bringing some of the franchise’s most valued players together to help make healthcare more approachable and relatable.

“Our partnership with Edwards Lifesciences is a great example of how sports can bring people together around causes that truly matter,” said Jennifer Prince, Chief Commercial Officer of the Rams. “We’re excited to continue this work and help raise awareness for heart valve disease and encourage more people to understand their risk.”

An estimated 12 million people across the United States can be affected by heart valve disease. Some symptoms may go unnoticed, which makes screening especially important for adults who are 50 years and older.

One of the most common forms of the disease is aortic stenosis and can become severely life-threatening if it goes untreated. Heart valve failure can affect up to two million people, which is enough to fill 26 football stadiums.

By using their role in Los Angeles, the Rams are helping provide education and screening access for preventative care and a better understanding of heart health. Since the programs started, the Rams and Edwards Lifesciences have been able to provide 375 free screenings to fans and surrounding community members.

“If you’re 50 years and older, go out and get your heart screened. Heart valve disease is out here, and it can go undetected. You may feel like you’re totally fine, but there might be an underlying issue with your heart valve that you won’t know about until you get screened,” said Holt. “When you go to your primary care doctor, ask about heart screenings. You need to know if something is happening.”

Rams channels, events and community programs will continue to benefit from these opportunities throughout L.A. and O.C. On Nov. 1, SoFi Stadium and the Rams will be hosting heat valve screenings prior to the game. They will be hosting a home game against their hometown rivals, the Los Angeles Chargers, as part of Legends Weekend, presented by Edwards Lifesciences.
