REO, Ind. — Caitlin Clark, Kelsey Mitchell, Aliyah Boston and the rest of the Indiana Fever team members will be larger than life in one southern Indiana community on Tuesday night.
A drive-in theater will pivot from movies for basketball Tuesday when it hosts a free community watch party for Game 2 of the Indiana Fever’s first-round WNBA playoff series against the Las Vegas Aces.
Nike is to thank for the fun at Holiday Drive-In. The audience will be among the first who can buy Caitlin 1 shoes, the highly anticipated signature kicks that go on sale Oct. 1 worldwide.
Before the game starts, families can visit an NBA 2K gaming lounge and a friendship bracelet station, and participate in yard games. The concession stand will serve drive-in classics, and the first 1,000 fans to enter will receive free concessions.
Tuesday is a must-win for the Fever in the best-of-three series. The Fever lost Sunday to the Aces 102-85. Tipoff is at 6:30 p.m. ET at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, or 5:30 p.m. CT at the drive-in. The theater will open its gates at 4:30 p.m. CT.
Anyone interested in attending can reserve a spot for a car on the Nike website. However, registration does not guarantee admittance. The venue will allow 520 cars.
The Spencer County theater sits off State Road 161 south of State Road 66 intersection in the small community of Reo. That’s in rural Rockport about 10 miles north of the Ohio River.
The Holiday Drive-In Theatre opened Aug. 9, 1955. The Moseley family took over the theater in 1978. Owner Tim Moseley said in a statement that the theater with six 70-foot-tall screens is honored to host the community for a WNBA playoff event after decades of family movie nights.
